This summer we are excited to welcome Lorna Fowler to serve as our CBF Summer Intern. Lorna is no stranger to Ardmore, having grown up in our church family. She is the daughter of James and DeNeal Fowler. Lorna graduated from high school in 2023 and currently attends NC State University, where she is double majoring in Biology and Medical Anthropology.
Lorna’s internship is a partnership between Ardmore Baptist Church and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. CBF is reimagining its summer internship program, and we are honored to be one of only two churches across the entire fellowship selected to participate in this pilot initiative. The goal of the program is to help young adults explore their gifts, discern God’s calling, and gain hands-on experience in the life and ministry of a local congregation.
Throughout the summer, Lorna will have opportunities to learn from every area of church life. She will spend time with each member of our pastoral staff, who will serve as mentors and conversation partners as she reflects on leadership, vocation, spiritual formation, and the work of ministry. She will observe and participate in worship planning, pastoral care, outreach, administration, discipleship, and other aspects of congregational leadership. In addition, Lorna will engage in weekly conversations with leaders from CBF and participate in guided reading and reflection on what it means to be a faithful and effective spiritual leader within the church.
One of the great joys of Ardmore has always been our commitment to nurturing the next generation of disciples and leaders. We are grateful for the opportunity to invest in Lorna’s growth while also learning from the gifts, perspectives, and energy she brings to our church community.
Lorna’s internship will begin on Sunday, June 21, and continue through Friday, August 14. When you see her around the church this summer, please take a moment to introduce yourself, welcome her, and encourage her as she explores God’s calling on her life. We are delighted to have her serving alongside us and look forward to all that God will do through this experience.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Dr. Tyler Tankersley
