One of the gifts of the Christian calendar is that Easter is not just a single Sunday. The church celebrates Eastertide for fifty days, lingering in the joy and mystery of the resurrection. During these weeks, we are invited to ask an important question: What does it actually mean to live as resurrection people?
Beginning April 12, our church will spend the Easter season in a new sermon series called “Living the Resurrection: Lessons from 1 Peter.” The letter of 1 Peter was written to early Christians who were trying to follow Jesus in a complicated and often difficult world. They were discovering that the resurrection of Christ was not simply something to celebrate—it was something that reshaped their entire way of life.
Peter writes that because Jesus has been raised from the dead, we have been given new birth into a living hope. That hope changes how we face hardship, how we trust God, and how we love one another. Throughout this series we will explore how resurrection faith gives us courage in suffering, endurance in trials, and a renewed calling to live as God’s holy people in the world.
Easter is not only about what happened to Jesus long ago. It is about what God continues to do today—bringing life out of death, hope out of despair, and courage out of fear.
I hope you will join us throughout this Easter season as we listen to the wisdom of 1 Peter and discover together what it means to live the resurrection in our daily lives.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Tyler Tankersley
