My Time At Ardmore

My internship at Ardmore through Student Serve is sadly coming to a close. My time this summer signifies the beginning of my career in ministry. I cannot think of any better place for this special moment of my life to occur. Ardmore is my home and has nurtured me in my faith since my birth. I am so thankful for the ministers, staff, and fellow congregants for welcoming me in a new brief role at Ardmore.

I began this internship the day after I graduated from Wake Forest School of Divinity with my Master of Divinity. My first day began with hopping into a rental van that was headed to Washington D.C. with Dane Martin and five college students to learn how to advocate alongside our faith with the Baptist Joint Committee and CBF Advocacy. Up next on my travel agenda was Passport Kids with Lee Ritchie and some really cool kids from our church in Eagle Eyrie. Here we learned about wide open spaces that God provides for us to welcome, to act, and to dance so that others may know and experience God’s abundant love. My internship experience included going to the CBF General Assembly in St. Louis, Missouri with my Student Serve Cohort. This was a time of learning more about the CBF world and meeting pastors, ministers, and field personnel from CBF churches around the world.

In the last half of the summer, I attended the Love Out Loud camp with some of our youth. We went out into Winston-Salem and served our community while learning more about problems that occur in our very own city that we are unaware of. Vacation  Bible School was next where we took a roadtrip with God and learned that God is with you wherever you go. Currently, as I write this blog, I am in Belgium where we led a three day children’s camp and a day and a half of a youth retreat. This has been an amazing experience learning about new cultures and that the love of God transcends all barriers, even language barriers!

In between traveling I experienced a shower day at the dwelling, worship planning, preaching, teaching Sunday bible study, hospital visits, and many other elements that make Ardmore so great. I have been able to explore my call to ministry even more through these experiences. I am excited to see how God works in my life in chaplaincy at Duke Raleigh. Thank you, brothers and sisters in Christ, for allowing me to serve alongside you good people.
