Parenting is such a strange job! We are responsible for helping to meet our child’s needs. We get a front row seat to the joys and holy moments of our child discovering life. We also get a front row seat to the everyday mundane and even difficult moments of parenting.
A friend of mine, Dr. Bob, says that “parenting is the greatest experiment!” So true! Each parent entrusted with a child, whether prepared or not, receives the responsibility to learn the child and their needs. Every child is different and, as parents, all we can do is just keep learning and loving! We learn about ourselves, our child, our culture, and our faith.
Parenting is big work and we need one another. Community helps us remember we aren’t doing this alone and that there are so many who have walked at least some version of this path before us. And isn’t it fun to get to laugh (and sometimes cry) with other parents about the wild moments we experience in raising kids? We’re all just trying to figure it out together!
Parents are also looking for equipping and I have some exciting news! Lindsey Pace is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Psychologist, and parent who understands the context in which we parent today. She will lead us in a Parenting Series about Anxiety September 7, 14, & 21 at 4pm in Fellowship Hall B. We will work through SPACE: Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood (& Adolescent) Emotions. We know this time of learning will be rich with practical tools and insights.
So come for the opportunity to be in community with other parents AND be even more equipped for parenting in everyday life. Sign up here.
