Breakfast and Brotherhood

We have an amazing Women’s Ministry here at Ardmore Baptist Church. And if you would like to learn more about their various groups and annual events, please email our Associate Pastor Gina Brock at gbrock@ardmorebaptist.org.

But we also need an active Men’s Ministry now more than ever. Recent books like Richard Reeves’ Of Boys and Men and podcasters such as Scott Galloway have been discussing how young men are struggling with identity, purpose, community, and meaning in their lives. And we men are not always the best at admitting to these struggles. What is needed are spaces for men to fellowship, share, and pray for one another.

For a long while, an active Men’s Ministry has lain dormant at Ardmore Baptist Church, but there is a group of us who are working on addressing that. There are a number of new opportunities that are in the works, but here are a few coming our way soon:

     · Men’s Ministry Breakfast – Every other month, early on a Thursday morning, we will gather in the Fellowship Hall for a breakfast. One of our guys will offer a short devotional and we will enjoy fellowship and food together. Our next breakfast is Thursday, July 31 at 7:00 AM. Brad Smith will be offering our devotional. The breakfast is free, but we need you to RSVP by Sunday, July 27. You can RSVP by calling the church office or by clicking here: Men’s Breakfast Link

     · The Dad Group – Our children and youth will again be meeting on Sunday afternoons from 4:00-6:00 this Fall. During that time, I will be helping to facilitate a conversation for any and all Dads in the congregation who want to get together just to talk about what it means to be a father. You can have a baby on the way, kids, teenagers, or grown adult children; everybody is welcome. This group will begin on Sunday, September 7 at 4:00 PM.

     · Men’s Relationship Support Group – Lots of men have issues surrounding relationships. Whether it’s an addiction to pornography, struggles within their marriage, navigating a parenting crisis, or anything else, we want to provide a space for men to be vulnerable so that they may experiencing the healing of God’s love. Using curriculum from the faith and clinically based program called Pure Desire, this group will meet weekly to provide a deep level of community and support. If you are interested in such a group, please email me at ttankersley@ardmorebaptist.org and I will give you more details.

     · Men’s Retreat – We would like to begin offering an annual Men’s Retreat. If you would like to help plan such a retreat, please email me and I will include you on our Planning Team.

The truth is, being a man today is complicated—but we don’t have to figure it out alone. We believe the church should be one of the safest places for men to be honest, supported, challenged, and loved. Our hope is that these gatherings and groups become more than events on the calendar. We want them to become lifelines of friendship, healing, and spiritual growth.

Whether you’re running on empty or just looking to connect more deeply, there’s a place for you here. Come grab some breakfast, share some laughter, ask hard questions, pray with someone who gets it. You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to show up.

Let’s build something good together.
