An open and thoughtful approach to faith

One Congregation, Two Services

At Ardmore Baptist Church, all are welcome in the worship of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each Sunday, we have two opportunities to worship together, each having the same message but with different styles.

Sunday Mornings

Worship for All

Bible study

for all ages begins at 9:30 AM

Worship services

begin at 8:15 AM and 10:45 AM

Preschool worship care

is available for ages birth through 4 years.

We recognize that all of us are at different places in our spiritual journey, and our services are intentionally planned to help each of us engage with God right where we are. There is no expectation of us to engage, but we know that worship will lift our spirits when we do. We encourage everyone to open their hearts to God, tell God where you are in prayer, and listen to God’s Word and hear what God is saying to you.

Contemplative

8:15 AM

The 8:15 AM worship service is a more contemplative setting illuminated with candles that feels intimate and informal. This service provides opportunity for us to pray, light a candle for a loved one, sing together, hear God’s Word read and interpreted, and grow closer to God. The music ranges from contemporary Christian songs to ancient hymns and is led by a small group of acoustic musicians and singers.

Traditional

10:45 AM

The 10:45 AM worship service incorporates more traditional worship elements with the hymns and music led by the pipe organ and choir (and sometimes an orchestra). Through music, prayer, scripture, and the spoken word, this service offers the opportunity to focus on God’s glory and offer praise and thanksgiving that will lift our hearts to God.

We recognize that all of us are at different places in our spiritual journey, and our services are intentionally planned to help each of us

engage with God right where we are.

There is no expectation of us to engage, but we know that worship will lift our spirits when we do.  We encourage everyone to open their hearts to God, tell God where you are in prayer, and listen to God’s Word and hear what God is saying to you.

What’s so important about worship?

We believe there are three important aspects of worship: expressing our love and gratitude for God and putting God first in our lives, being in community with other worshippers, and our continued growth in becoming a follower of Christ.

To worship God is to honor and place God in highest importance through our words and actions.

Anything can be worshiped. Some of us love our sports team or Alma Mater and put their success above all else. We could say we “worship” our team or school. If someone puts their work before everything else, we often say that they “worship” their career. In Deuteronomy 6:4-5 we read, “The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” True worship of God is when we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It’s when we prize God above everything else and put Him first in our hearts. It is a choice. We believe that true worship becomes the one thing we give to God.

Worship is community; we do it together.

When we worship, we grow our relationship with God, but we also expand our relationship with each other. We come from many different backgrounds and life situations, but when we sing, we sing as one voice; when we pray, we pray as one body; when we need help or encouragement, we receive it and experience it together. “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.”  (Hebrews 10:24-25)

We believe that worship is transformational.

We encourage everyone to not just go through the motions when they gather for worship, but to realize that they are being formed through each element of worship. “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” (James 4:8) When we engage in worship, God will speak directly to us and lead us in new ways that transform our everyday lives.

What we believe about Holy Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion every 2 months in the worship services and on special services at Christmas and Easter.  Jesus asks us to celebrate Holy Communion regularly in 1 Corinthians 11:25 when he says, “Do this in remembrance of me.” It is our reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus and our redemption through Him. We believe that Jesus died for everyone, so all are welcome to celebrate Holy Communion in our worship services.

We use grape juice to represent Jesus’ blood and a portion of bread or crackers to represent Jesus’ body. There are gluten-free options available at all services. Communion is open and offered to all who wish to partake.

Children in Worship

At Ardmore Baptist, we believe worship is for all ages. Children are welcomed and encouraged to worship alongside their families, learning how we gather, sing, pray, and share life together in God’s presence. We hope families feel comfortable bringing their children into the sanctuary, knowing it’s a space meant for them, too. We understand that children may ask questions or fidget, and we embrace this as part of their spiritual growth.

Ways children participate in worship:

Singing hymns and joining in music

Participating in responsive readings and prayers

Leading as greeters or helping with a litany

Reading scripture and taking part in special services

Worship Cart

Our worship cart, located near the main sanctuary entrance, provides resources to help children engage more fully in worship. Items include:

Bibles, journals, and writing tablets

Books, labyrinths, and tactile elements

Fidget toys and other materials for hands-on engagement

We also celebrate children in worship with regular children’s sermons, baptisms, and baby-parent dedications, all reinforcing their vital role within our congregation.
