What We Offer

MaundyThursdayWorship is central to the life of Ardmore Baptist Church. Formerly known as our music ministry, the new title of Worship, Music, and Arts helps describe more accurately the scope of this essential ministry. This area encompasses all of our graded choirs, handbell choirs, instrumental and vocal ensembles, as well as our drama and visual arts teams. Nearly 400 people are involved in some aspect of this ministry which is appreciated by the entire congregation.

Music, Worship, Arts Talent/Interest Survey

Worship emphasizes a central focus of this congregation: meaningful worship of our risen Savior. Our weekly worship is solid and inspirational, the music is outstanding, and special seasons of the church year afford us significant opportunities for praise, challenge and commitment.

Adult Choirs

Adult ChoirArdmore’s Adult Choir provides service music for both the 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services each Sunday, and is open to all adults 18 years and older.

The 10:45 a.m. choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 7:15 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.; the 8:15 a.m. choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 7:50 a.m.

Christmas and Easter programs are presented each year; in addition, in recent years the choir has premiered "In His Presence" and "And Still He Made the Sunrise" at Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly, and held a 25th anniversary performance of "Celebrate Life" at Ardmore. Annual choir retreats are held to provide intensive rehearsal and fellowship time.

In September of 1998, the Adult Choir recorded a CD of favorite anthems, entitled "With a Voice of Singing." Two other CDs have been recorded since then, "Christmas at Ardmore" and "When the Servant Sings".

Preschool And Children's Choirs

Ardmore’s preschool and children’s choirs use age-appropriate and sequential music and materials to give children ages 3 years through 6th grade a strong musical foundation. These groups are education (both musical and spiritual)-oriented, rather than performance choirs, although elementary age children sing in worship services several times each year.

Rehearsal is on Wednesday Nights:

  • 5:30 PM - Children's Choirs (1st - 6th grades)
  • 5:50 PM - Preschool Choirs (3 - 5 years old)

Youth Choir

Seventh – twelfth graders in Ardmore’s Youth Choir meet each Sunday afternoon to rehearse. They sing occasionally for Sunday worship, and are the service choir for Youth Sunday.

Senior Adult Choir

Senior adults meet on Tuesday mornings to enjoy learning and singing together. They present a musical at Christmas and in the spring, as well as singing each year at area retirement homes.

Handbell Choirs

Ardmore sponsors five handbell groups:

  1. Handbells I, a beginning ringing group; children 2nd grade and above learn musical notation and ringing technique, using three octaves of handchimes.
  2. Handbells II, for those who have "graduated" from Children’s Handbells I, OR who demonstrate music reading and rhythmic skills necessary to ring handbells.
  3. Youth Handbells I & II, for 7th –12 graders.
  4. Adult Handbells

All handbell choirs ring in worship several times each year, using five octaves of Schulmerich and Malmark handbells.
